(1) Respond to the reports and proposals made by the education consultation groups.

(2) Hold press conferences and give press releases concerning important educational affairs.

(3) Meet government officials to discuss educational affairs.

(4) Designate representatives as candidates for the education constituency in the Legislative Council to voice members' views of
their rights and privileges and educational policies, fight for children's interest & teachers' rights.

(5) Join the education consultation groups so as to reflect to the government the professional opinions of teachers.

(6) Liaise with other educational groups and teachers to struggle for the improvement of the education system.

(7) Conduct surveys to collect and reflect the opinions on education. Organize petitions and rallies to realize professional autonomy and exert influence on educational policies.

(8) Organize seminars and talks to share and explore ideas in education and teaching methods.

(9) Provide support to teachers in professional enhancement and help promote the culture of professionalism through the establishment of Professional Development Centre.

(10) Develop internet educational publications to promote quality education and facilitate exchanges among teachers.

(11) Cooperate with social workers and other parties concerned to promote positive media education and family education, and enhance students' health development.

(12) Set up "teachers' Hotlines" and offer consultation services to relieve teachers' work pressure. Establish the Action Group for the alleviation of teachers' stress, to discuss regularly how to alleviate teachers' work pressure; Set up an anti-teacher stress website to disseminate relevant informations; Urge the authority to introduce policies to relieve teachers' stress.

(13) Develop teachers' professionalism, urge the authority concerned to establish General Teaching Council and fight for rofessional autonomy.

(14) Fight for democratization and professionalism of schools' administration.

(1) Protect the rights and benefits of teaching staff at all levels including their terms of employment, promotion prospect and pension rights.

(2) Urge the government to alleviate teachers' work pressure.

(3) Protect members' professional rights, pay close attention to any amendments in the Education Ordinances and Code of Aid, arbitrate in disputes of dismissal and job transfer.

(4) Provide free service of consultation and complaints.

(5) Urge the government to establish career-long professional development for teachers as an educational policy.

The Working Principles of the Rights and Complaints Department

1. Ensure confidentiality.
2. Act strictly in accordance with the consent of teachers.
3. Provide services to teachers on a fair and equitable basis.
4. Persist in protecting teachers' rights and privileges on a reasonable ground.
5. Defend professionalism.
6. Conciliate on behalf of teachers with their schools or Education Bureau.

(1) Organize courses, seminars, forums, day camps, summer schools, summer holiday learning tours, academic contests, etc. for both teachers and students. Standing groups: Teaching Material Center, English Learning Teaching Group, etc.
