Since SARS invaded
Hong Kong nearly two months ago, the city has been shrouded
in doom and gloom. Our city has been hard hit by the outbreak.
Victims died and unemployment inexorably surges. Our city is
in an emergency. Being the citizens of Hong Kong, we are interdependent
with one another. The other will not thrive if one withers.
Now, we must stick together in the spirit of joining forces
to fight SARS. We have launched the "Teachers Against SARS"
Campaign to mobilize all our teachers to donate money to help
SARS victims and bereaved families. We have to set ourselves
a model for our students, showing them that social cohesion
is essential to fight a protracted battle against SARS. Under
the terrible blow, let us hand in hand help restore Hong Kong
to normalcy.
