Democracy & Rights 2000

The function "Democracy & Rights 2000" will be co-organized by a number of democracy-advocating organizations to express ideas in and cherish the hope for the promotion of democracy, human rights, liberty, rule of law, justice, protection of environment and elimination of poverty.

"Democracy & Rights 2000" is to consist of three programmes:

1. "International Day of Human Rights", to be held between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. , on Friday, 10 December, 1999 in Charter Garden, Central, Hong Kong, when "The Ten Cases of Infringement on Human Rights" will be announced.
   
2. "Fringe Performances and Exhibitions", to be held between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., on Friday, 31 December, 1999, the last day of the millenium, in Pedestrian Area, Charter Road, Central, Hong Kong, when there will be fringe performances, stalls and exhibitions.
   
3. "Countdown Evening Variety Show", to be held between 10:00 p.m. and 12:30 am on Friday, 31 December, 1999, the last day of the millenium, in Pedestrian Area, Charter Road, Central, Hong Kong, when there will be public speeches, variety shows, millenium countdown, declaration of millenium mission, etc.
