馮偉華分析人口趨勢時指出，按學生人數的統計數據，預期中六畢業生的人數將自2017-18學年起逐年下跌，至2020-21學年將下跌超過一成；而職業訓練局職前課程的學生人數，亦由2013-14學年約58,600人，減少至2015-16學年的57,900人。教協關注文憑試畢業生減少，會否影響院校的穩定以至職業教育的未來發展。 …… 閱讀全文
特區政府換屆在即，教育更是新政府的重點政策範疇。對此，本會於5月27日舉辦「以教為重：新政府的中小學教育施政要注意甚麼？」教育研討會，邀請一眾學者與中小學同工討論未來教育路向，講者包括香港教育大學鄭燕祥教授及趙志成教授、香港中學校長會主席李雪英校長、津貼小學議會主席冼儉偉校長，以及本會立法會代表葉建源議員。本會會長馮偉華博士作為主持，首先向在座同工簡介新政府50億教育施政的具體方案，及後一眾講者特別針對教改、教師專業發展、未來整體規劃等方面，剖析現行教育政策利弊，並與同工交流意見。 …… 閱讀全文
上月22日，會長馮偉華及立法會代表葉建源，代表本會參與候任特首林鄭月娥與多個中小幼教育團體代表的會面，聽取有關50億元新增教育經費的具體計劃。事後本會亦向所有會員發出電郵報告會面內容。
本會多年來的爭取，特別是幼師薪級表，已成幼教界的普遍共識。在特首競選期間，幼師薪級表更成為三位候選人的主要政綱。是次會面，林太在幼教方面主要提出三點：

The new government will start its operation in July. Dr. FUNG Wai-wah, President of the HKPTU, invited colleagues from the Vocational Training Council (VTC) to attend the President’s Gathering on 3 June to collect their opinions on vocational education to be reflected to the new government. Hon. IP Kin-yuen, the representative of the HKPTU in the Legislative Council, also attended the session to listen to the voice of our fellow colleagues.
The HKPTU concerns about the decrease in number of students
Dr. FUNG Wai-wah first analysed demographic trends and pointed out that the predicted number of secondary 6 graduates will decrease continuously from the 2017-18 academic year. By 2020-21, this number will be dropped by over 10%. And for the students studying vocational education courses in the VTC, the number has dropped from 58,600 in 2013-14 to 57,900 in 2015-16. 對於八九六四的是非黑白見諸日月昭昭，人心蕩蕩。
近年來本土意識高漲，不少年輕人對於六四悼念晚會有這樣那樣的意見，以至選擇遺忘，杯葛出席，甚或惡意污衊。未來歲月畢竟屬於年輕人的，他們絕對有權怎樣選擇認識六四，怎樣詮釋六四，怎樣回應六四。今期《教協報》邀請了幾位參與過悼念晚會的年輕人，聽聽他們的心聲。 曾說過石在，火種不會滅，如今更相信，只要年輕人和應良知的呼喚，作出理智的選擇，希望仍在！

「年紀大、機器壞」。隨著年紀增加，器官功能亦都開始有變化。當肌肉質量逐漸減少，肌肉力量就會減弱，韌度會變差，引致身體平衡力下降。這樣會增加跌倒風險，如同時有骨質疏鬆，骨折風險亦更大。
我覺得好，係咪有肌肉減少症呢？
長者覺得有很多原因：如貧血、糖尿病、甲狀腺功能退化或其他慢性疾病。但檢查的時候，肌力可能是正常的。 …… 閱讀全文

The current government does not care about public opinion and disregards education. Although the HKPTU has been fighting for an increase in educational resources for years, the current government still does nothing and so the urges from the sector has never been addressed. Up until the Chief Executive election this year, the 30+ election committee members of the HKPTU have finally succeeded in asking all three candidates to add our urges on education to their manifestos. Carrie LAM proposed an additional 5 billion dollars of concurrent appropriation which focuses on but not limited to the following six areas: (i) Establishing a pay scale for kindergarten teachers; (ii) Improving the staffing establishment of primary and secondary school teachers; (iii) Converting short-term contract teaching posts to permanent ones; (iv) Enhancing support for integrated education and special education; (v) Upgrading the hardware and software provided for schools; (vi) Granting financial aid to secondary school graduates to enable them to pursue degree courses in self-financing tertiary institutions; and exploring the feasibility of flexible repayment arrangements for newly graduated students of tertiary institutions to reduce their burden in paying back tuition loans. These all align with the propositions of the HKPTU.
